September – October
During the summer months we have what equates to a social membership at both Tequesta and Turtle Creek Country Clubs. We can play golf and use their dining rooms. Its quite nice. Fridays were usually golf in the morning and dinner at Turtle Creek. On Fridays they have Prime Rib. It is herb crusted slow roasted and delicious.
They have what they call the ÒcowboyÓ cut, which is huge and provides great leftovers. The leftovers are for Tinker, of course. We also love the golf course. It well groomed and it never crosses a road. The entire subdivision is built around the periphery of the course.
It would be a mistake not to mention the wonderful wait staff. Because of our frequency of visiting we made friends with Kathleen, Cindy, James, Leon and Marie. During the summer they are not that busy and it is truly like a private club. Everybody was wonderful to us and we greatly appreciated it. We felt right at home.
The view from the dining room looks right across the course where you are treated to some lovely sunsets.
The last week of September Diane found some openings at Disney World and we treated ourselves to a week of fun. We were able to get a room at the yacht club right on the marina with a great out door patio. It was beautiful.
They have a great pool also. It is one of DianeÕs favorites.
After a day at the parks it is a great way to relax before dinner.
We started the week with dinner at the Grand Floridian complete with dessert.
Monday we did Epcot with lunch at the Canadian Steakhouse and dinner at the French restaurant. We rode the Test track four times in a row by walking on as singles. We were like kids without parents. It was fun. The next day we did the Animal Kingdom with the rapids, the lion King show and lunch at Yak and YediÕs. Our timing was perfect as it rained all during lunch.
The next day we went to Hollywood studios. We did several exhibits including Indiana Jones and the Beauty and the Beast show and had lunch at the Brown Derby. Ironically we sat at the same table we had last year. It is like our private table now. We ended the day back at the French restaurant and watched the Fireworks during dinner.
The final day was the Magic Kingdom which included Splash Mountain and Thunder Railroad. We rode through the Haunted House. Sat through the Hall of Presidents. Flew through the Peter Pan ride and we caught a glimpse of the new Dwarfs Mine Train. Check out all the clouds behind the castle. It was beautiful for the 2nd day of October. We ended the day back at the French restaurant watching the fireworks.
I didnÕt mention that we started everyday with breakfast with the characters. The buffet was awesome. Those Mickey waffles are pretty good. All in all it was a great get-a-way vacation with the love of my life. We had a ball.
